More About Tony ...

"I am committed to continue working on current and important issues for the residents of Harbourview - Burnside – Dartmouth East."

My HRM...

I was first elected to Council in 2016 and have been extremely proud of the work that this Council has accomplished in growing the job market for our young people. The youth who left for employment opportunities are returning.  Students graduating from our universities and colleges are choosing to stay.

The Halifax Partnership has worked closely with the Province to make it easier for our international students to remain in HRM after completing their studies. The tide has been turned. Our increase in population growth has broken records over the last four years.

Growing Diversity in HRM

There was a time when I would walk down one of our streets and everyone I passed looked like me. Now, when I go for a walk, I see people who look different. They may have a darker skin colour, dress differently, or speak with an accent, or in another language. I am proud of how our communities and residents have welcomed these newcomers.

Our Diversity & Inclusion team at HRM continues to support and promote the rich history of our Indigenous, African Nova Scotian and Acadian citizens; and to embrace the varied cultures of our immigrant populations.

Climate Change Matters

HRM was one of the first municipalities in Canada to declare a Climate Emergency and we have approved a climate change strategy HalifACT2050.

This Council has accomplished a great deal in its efforts to protect our green spaces. Over the last four years, we have put measures in place to protect Blue Mountain Birch Cove and the Purcell Cove Backlands.

Our Parks and Trails help us Stay Active

We are fortune to have within HRM the protected 100 Islands in the Eastern Shore, thanks to the work of the Nova Scotia Nature Trust.  In addition, we enjoy the many multi-use trails like the McIntosh Run.

We have over 800 parks including parks, like Shubie Park, Cyril Smith Park and Point Pleasant Park, to mention a few.  This Council recognizes the impact that our parks and multi-use trails have on the quality of life for citizens of HRM.

Community Makes our City Welcoming

Although there are still many improvements needed, we have come a long way with our transit service. I am especially proud of our improved Access-A-Bus service, and our Low-Income Bus Pass program.

I love our wonderful Halifax Public Libraries. They offer the most welcoming public spaces in all HRM. Our unique Central Library on Spring Garden Road attracts attention from around the world.  The Dartmouth North Library was the first outdoor library in Canada.  All our 14 branches are truly amazing.

HRM is a community that strives to welcome everyone.
Our community allows citizens to be who they are, to worship or not worship as they choose, and to love and share their lives with whomever they wish.
 That is my HRM.

RE-Elect Tony Mancini for District 6

Harbourview – Burnside – East Dartmouth
Due to Covid 19, I will be limiting my canvassing and won’t be knocking on as many doors as in past campaigns. Over the coming weeks I will make myself available by phone or by email. If you prefer, we can arrange a virtual meeting or a face-to-face socially distant meeting. In these times safety must be the paramount priority.
